Can we talk about what really keeps us safer? A recent story in the Macomb Daily says pre-school funding is an anti-crime initiative:

Law enforcement officials and educators gathered in Mount Clemens on Wednesday to urge state lawmakers to approve an additional $65 million for pre-school classes that are viewed as an anti-crime initiative.

Advocates say the “Great Start” funding, which was proposed by Gov. Rick Snyder, will pay dividends as those low-income, “at risk” children exposed to pre-kindergarten learning are much less likely to drop out of school or engage in criminal activity as teenagers or young adults.
