“Reforms to the way criminals are sentenced, incarcerated and monitored could become law by the end of the year after four bills were introduced in Michigan Legislature Thursday.

House Bills 5928-5931 are the product of the Council of State Governments’ collaboration with state lawmakers to look at Michigan’s criminal justice system. Among the proposed reforms is a Justice Policy Commission that would, in part, analyze and propose amendments to the sentencing guidelines judges use to determine how long convicted criminals spend in prison.”
